My '85 was built in Flint. It would be cool if you had worked on it.

I don't know if this has been brought up but is there any difference between Canadian built sqaure bodies and USA made sqaure bodies ? Body steel metal formulas and so on .

Nope; same parts from the same suppliers.

The only differences might be process related, like if the ELPO dip tank was installed in one facility before the others (but that wouldn't be US/Canada specific; it would be plant-to-plant variation regardless).

Mexican builds are different (obviously) due to laws about local content.

I was curious because my 85 Chevy built in Canada sure seems to have better rust prevention than my 87 built in Wisconsin .

It was probably sprayed in the great white north at the dealership.

I see I haven't made a post on this thread for a couple years, so I probably owe you all an update.

I retired about this time last year, during the big cleanse at GM. Feb 7th 2019 was my last day in the office with an official retirement date of March 1st. Total time at GM was 39 years and 7 months. During that time I worked on 6 generations of full size trucks, one passenger car program (Chevy Volt and derivatives) and one special show car/production build that I'm still not at liberty to talk about.

I'm still relatively young so I took my pension as a lump sum and stashed that and my 401k away for future use. I also was drawing full pay for a period of time, as part of my separation package, so I used that time to find something else to do.

As a result I went back to work with another OE manufacturer as a contractor and am doing Accessory Part design and release. It's going pretty well as I have a couple graphics packages and some pickup truck hardware. I'm enjoying getting in touch with my inner styling talents and getting used to seeing a project all the way through from cradle to grave. As I say its been a year and it seems to be going pretty well (at least from my perspective).

My wife is going through our old photo albums and digitizing some of the prints. Found a couple cool ones.

First set is me and my oldest son washing our respective red trucks. This would be around 1990 or 1991.

Third photo is another of my original blue truck (This would be the first new vehicle I purchased). From around 1985 or 1986 or so.
