I'm planning on a 9" with 4.30 gear 33-35 spline (900hp)

Looking at a Eaton truetrac or a Detroit locker ..

What would you guys recommendation be
this is mostly a street truck so looking for something with little to no wine if
possible.

talked in email to quick performance and they said I need a 35spline for my power goals and was trying to push me to a locker as it was like $400 less.

I am reading the locker make a lot of noise

come on you rear end gurus take me to school . this is the first time doing a custom rear or any rear for that matter

been building and playing with jet boats for the past 30+ yrs :)

so far I need 51-3/4 flange to flange, spring center is 25", 35 spline axles,
eaton truetrac , 411 - 430 gear ,
can't do a fab. housing as the spring mounts are 1/2 on tube and 1/2 will be on housing :(

You want unbreakable get a 14 bolt out a 90 what ever 454SS truck. It's a lot of weight but strong.

I researched all the types of limited slips, and decided that for my daily driver which also sees Canadian winters, I wanted a Detroit TruTrac.

One of the reasons is that they generally act "invisible" in that they are very, very driveable. Another was that on an icy road, if one wheel has zero traction, it will act as an open diff, which should prevent me from sliding into the ditch.

In my opinion a Locker is best suited for dirt, drift, or drag. You can "put up with it on the street," but it might not be ideal for a "street only" vehicle.

I've done two winters now with the TruTrac, and I absolutely love it. WAY more traction, but doesn't act up or do anything strange - it just connects! I highly recommend them.

have one from my 07 doner truck :) too much unsprung weight

I would do a spool and 35 spline axles in a 9" light weight and strong and you can get a truss kit for it too, just make sure it's in a jig prior to welding or it will eat bearings.

For using it on the street my vote goes to the truetrac. I have one on the front axle of my truck- as putting a locker on the front can make it hard to steer. It feels exactly like an open diff- except I have great traction.

I liked it so much a friend of mine then bought one for the rear axle of his 2001 Silverado and has used it the last few years. He said the same thing- doesn't know it is there but gets great traction.

For the rear of my truck I have a eaton locker (detroit locker). It can bang/clunk when going around a corner and you either accelerate or decelerate. It will lock/unlock based on input torque. Or if the transmission shifts in the middle of the corner- the inside tire will bark/chirp. Also more noticeable tire wear. But offroad is where it shines and why I bought it.
