Request for help here on the 4wd shifter

I took it apart some time ago and packaged all the parts and am cleaning them up, but is there a thread on how to proper install and lube this guy? I looked at the transfercase thread herein, but nothing on the shifter, etc

thanks

Some of these questions will get lost in your build thread @dougbert , so I've moved it to it's own thread in the right category. Not only that, some people don't look at build threads. Hopefully this will get some more attention this way.

Is it the 208 style shifter? I don't recall them being complicated at all, just a shift lever mounted to a pivot plate, and a rod?

thanks HR and bucket

Probably a 208. This came from a auto tranny to sm465 4 speed conversion vehicle I bought. I sold the 465 and the transfercase (probably the 208) since I was putting in a LS, NV4500 and a np241c all into a 1984 K1500

So the 4wd shifter is probably from the np208 era. I found in my trusty haynes repair manual for chevy pickups 81-87 a diagram on the np203, np205 and np208. although it didn't show the shifter for the 208 it did for the other two and they don't match what I got. The diagram did show the rod with the 90 degree short part, and the nut and other items. I have ordered a Haynes repair manual for 88-93 chevy pickup manual for reference. It should cover the np241c for me.

below are the pics for what I have for the shifter. I know I have the linkage parts between the shifter and the TC - just where in the various totes I have I don't know.

I did clean up and paint the shifter itself and the guide plate, the 2 left items in the 1st pic. I like cleaning and painting old parts to give them some more life, even if they only have surface rust.

it was dry enough to crawl under the truck today to see if the linkage was there and it was save for a washer and cotter pin, so things will be easier than I first thought.
