Monroe shocks

What is everyone's opinion on Monroe shocks for a stock k10? I think my Ranchos are just about done, and oreillys has monroes for about $25 each.

always liked them. rockauto is probably alot cheaper. They have alot of different ones though from cheap to expensive. The monroe matics or blue ones are usually the cheapest ones now and used to be the sensatracs were the high end and rode very nice. They had the big yellow magnums for trucks.

I honestly hate gabriel's shocks they ride terrible. Air shocks are ok but not any others

You were right, rock auto has the blue monroes for $20 each. and they have the yellow HD ones fpr $25 for the front and 29 for the rear. I'm thinking heavy duty for a 4x4.

my old man used to swear by them, he alway sused the big yellow ones on 4wd's and then the sensa tracs on cars. I had sensa trac's on front of my monte carlo ss and monroe air shocks on back, rode like a dream, best riding car I ever had

I've always used the yellow ones lol, pretty good.

I forgot all about the discount lol. I was under there earlier adjusting the clutch and noticed the bushings are falling apart, and the rear don't really have the correct mounting studs on top. I saw where the monroes include the proper stud for the rears so that's a plus. These shocks only have about 9k miles on them, but they're about 15 years old.

I'm picky about ride quality and have no complaints with the Gabriel Ultras after 15 years of use. Was easy to choose them because they have some specifically for use with a 4" lift. Didn't see that option with Monroe.

never tried the ultra's just used their el cheapos and they suck

You realize of course that Monroe and Rancho are manufactured by the same company....Tenneco

Nope. I dont post there.

Monroe is at the "entry level" for shock absorbers...then mid level would be rancho/Kyb....top level (oem spec)...Bilstein and some others


Not all shocks are created equal...its probably the advanced engineering that determines the cost to the consumer.
