Target Crate engines

Anyone ever heard of a target crate engine? Thats the replacement I'm using for the red chevy.

How did you hear about them? Do their motors come with any kind of warranty? What kinda numbers are their motors rated at?

I'm confused. You said you were using it for the replacement on your red chevy, right? You didn't do research on it prior to purchase or are you still thinking about it?

Its the 88 parts truck. It has low miles but unknown due a trany crapping out after a rebuild. I got the whole for $500. The person said its one of those Gm target crate engines.

I bought a 4.3 V-6 motor from pep boys back in the 90's for my SB 4-door Caprice I had. Spent the weekend putting it in, started it up and had no oil pressure. But when I primed the oil pump there was oil flowing fine.

I had to take it back out and exchange it for another one. After they looked at it, they said that there was an oil galley plug missing inside the first motor somewhere and it was thier fault so they cut me a check for 500 bucks for my labor and exchanged the motor for free. I can't remmber what brand the motor was sold under.

I'm pretty sure the "Target Motor" or "Target Master" motor was a replacement motor offered by GM or through an AC/Delco type of store wwwaaaayyyyy back during the 80's..IIRC......
I'm sure HRPC will know for sure....I remember seeing a couple back in my teen years...

Here ya go...They were painted all black, and they were just your basic low HP 350.......I also think that they were made in Mexico, according to the info I've came across..........
