NP208 shift linkage
Well I believe whats in my truck is the 208, let me begin with that... Now my question is how do I adjust the linkage, Im not getting enough rear pull on the shifter. When I pull it back into 4H I have to pull back on it hard to get the 4 Wheel drive light to illuminate, same goes so that it doesnt pop out when i try to drive it in 4H. In 4L it goes in and operates fine altho a few bumps and griiiiiind and she pops out into neutral. I need to tighten it up a little so that the lever doesnt move when hitting bumps and to get it to stay into gear.

if is the factory one in your 87 it will be a 208, with all the lift you have i assume there is some body lift in there, so make sure the shifter is not hitting the body first, check your motor mounts and trans mounts also, the 208 is known to have troubles popping out of 4 high but check everything before you throw the towel in, that is a very good looking truck you have also

Well as far as I can tell there is no body lift on the truck its all suspension, and the motor mounts and trans mounts are new.

And after more searching on google it seems that I have the common worn shift fork problem... I will say its a plus that mine jumps out of 4WD instead of 2WD like I was reading that happens to some...

i had a blazer that would jump out of 4 high, i had a spare case and put that in, your truck does look real solid but bad body mounts can cause it to
