Default Just bought a 2017 Sierra Denali CCSB
I picked it up this morning, and I've already made the first mod, a Revolver tonneau cover. And I also had them take the POS OEM tires off and put Michelin Premier LTXs on it.

I can't help it. It's a sickness.

I like the color choice. Those trucks really stand out in that blue. I'm kind of surprised it isn't more popular than it is. (At least as far as how many I see on the street in that shade)

Nope 5.3 is standard, 6.2 is an option, I've driven a handful of Denali Ultimates with a 5.3 when I worked at the dealership.

Sweet looking rig Rich. My color choice too.

That is also new to me. I thought 6.2 was Standard on the Denali's. Is AWD still Standard?

Back in the day, like 2002 ish, 6.0 and AWD was Standard. Not 4wd, but AWD.

Congrats on the new purchase. I'm sure you deserved it.

If stew is correct they've decreased what come standard on a Denali substantially.

(Copy and Paste)
GMC engineers left on major item as an option: the 6.2-liter V-8. Coming as standard is the 5.3-liter V-8, which provides 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Of course, opting for the Corvette-derived, 6.2-liter V-8 is the only sensible choice – I mean, who doesn’t want 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque?

Weird. Definitely not spending the coin on a Denali just to get a 5.3. Might as well get the 6.2 sense the money is being spent anyway. Just my opinion lol

I'd imagine the 5.3 would hurt resale value badly too. That's like getting a Vortec model truck with a 305 instead of a 350, or a 4.8 instead of a 5.3. Would kill it IMO.

Yeah, but you can get an SLE with the 6.2. There's a lot of differences under the skin that separate a Denali from a loaded SLT, some options only available in the Denali. Another thing is the 6.2 is premium fuel only versus the 5.3 will run on regular.

Yeah, it's the 6.2l L86. Kind of a no-brainer there.

The L86 is standard on the Yukon Denali, I believe. but not the Sierra Denali.

It says premium fuel is recommended, and that it won't get the same mileage and performance on regular. But the way it's worded, if there's no premium around, the computer will just diddle some parameters and run on regular. I suspect the computer keeps the timing on the raw edge of knock whatever gas you run in it. That's the sweet spot.

The blue was simple. Every newer pickup I see here (pickups are about 1 in every 3 vehicles, including a bunch of squarebodies) is white, black, silver/grey, or red. Blue is pretty rare. This is the sixth vehicle I've bought new for myself in 36 years, and every single one of them was black, but I wanted something a bit different from the crowd.

Also, GM had "16% incentives on select vehicles in inventory", which was basically everything over about 60 days, so I picked from what was tagged for special incentives on the GM website. This one was up in Indy, about an hour away, so the local dealer traded the Indy dealer another Sierra Denali for it. It had what I was looking for: 6.2l, 20" wheels, and the black interior. The brown interior has very light-colored seats, and looks stupid to me. And I can't see paying $3000 extra to increase the unsprung weight (reducing compliance) and make the ride harsher (due to stiffer sidewalls) with 22" wheels.

The big attraction of the Denali for me was the magnetic suspension. Nice technology. It does not ride empty like a truck running empty. It basically rides like it's loaded all the time. That and the active noise cancellation that comes with the L86 makes it a very civilized vehicle to drive.

And it's stupid fast. I haven't found the bottom of the gas pedal yet. It's a little unnerving, because there are no sound effects with the acceleration. It just scoots -- quietly.
