Default Transfer Case Crossmembers & Skid Plates
I picked up a transfer case skid plate that I thought would fit, and went through all the trouble of cracking the bolts, and bringing it home, scrubbing it down to get all the dirt off, and then find out it doesn't fit... It came from an 80s suburban. I guess there are different transmission cross members because the holes just didn't line up. I have a sb350 + NP208 + SM465. Can anybody tell me which transfer case skid plates will fit? I have the wavy transmission crossmember and no rear cross member. That is another style I have seen, but I believe it is only for 73-79? vehicles with that style of skid plate.

If anyone wants this one, I will send it out, just pay for shipping, it has the bolts too.

I had the same issue! I had a skid plate on my 86 v6 sm456 208. I sold that crossmember but kept the skid plate then I tried to put the plate on a crossmember from a 87 v8 700r4 208 truck and it don't fit right either

Looks like it's for the style of crossmember that dips down on on both sides, rather than one. I think it was used in '85-'86.

Is there a thread on the different crossmembers that were used? Through the years, with what transmissions, the different GVWR's, C vs K, etc.

I think it can fit in a large flat rate box from USPS, and it would be $18.75 to 77802, but I need to measure first to confirm.

I don't think so, but it didn't start getting confusing until the 80's, when concerning the K series. Earlier crossmembers were basically the same, with the K30 part being more flat than the 10-20.

I think the C series were all the same, except probably the C30 (again, taller rails than 10-20 trucks).

I have been looking under the suburban and can't see where the center bolt would go? The outer ones look like they should line up with the cross member. How does it not fit on yours?

The one on my '89 has a similar shape to the one above but isn't exactly the same. It has two drain holes in the bottom and mounts with just the four bolts on the crossmember.

My apologies, I should have mentioned this, but I just put an extra bolt that I had in that hole - it doesn't do anything, just a drain hole. It mounts just like skysurfer posted, the 4 bolts and nuts that mount to the crossmember.

I will take it if can be $20-$25 shipped. You can also just send it without a box with corners wrapped a bit if that comes out cheaper.

Looks like same as yours. I might give a shot at modifying it to fit at a later time.

Here's 2 of the 3 different 4x4 crossmembers I'm aware of. I can't find my pic of the other older style but I have it also, as well as skid plates for all 3 different types. At least I think I do, I do not believe I had yet bolted the skid plate to the W crossmember I let get away with my K1500 when I sold it. I have plenty of the wavy crossmembers. I should have swapped that into the K1500 before I sold it, and kept the W member. Shit happens.
