    Painting rally wheel rim

Rustoleum is a great brand. I use their paints all the time, they have always produced good results for me. Think about getting an airless sprayer from a good brand ( german Wagner etc. ) . Even a good one is relatively cheap, and they are much cheaper than a regular air gun as you dont need a...

    17-in rims

Maybe you can get a local machine shop to make up some hub centre adapters for the wheels ? We have a local shop that is happy to make up all sorts of weird stuff. just make sure they use the right grade of steel ( nothing too soft )..

    350 to 454 in a K10: What Motor Mounts?

look at swapping in a rear 14 bolt full floater 8 lug with an lsd ( can be found cheap from a wrecked C20 ). You will need a matching set of 8 lug front rotors for the Dana 44 from Rock Auto ( No real advantage at the front, but allows a full set of 8 lug rims all 'round ) - until you can locate...

    Painting rally wheel rim

My 10c - when painting wheels ABSOLUTELY you must paint the inner surface. I have just had a set of 8 x 15 rims blasted as they had heavy rust, but I hate throwing good stuff away ( apparently 8 lug 15's are difficult to find now ?? ). The rims were primed in a cold GAL primer, that is a good...

    GMT 400 Suburban dually - info ?

Hi All, can anyone shed any light on this vehicle style. My son is looking at buying a GMT 400 crew for a work truck, and this popped up. Probably going to be counted out as running costs will be through the roof with duals etc., however I have not seen many, and assumed they are quite "rare" (...

Adding 4WD, where does the shifter go?

stupid thought - but could you not use the floor hump from the old cab to located the shifter holes? If not, I would set the floor up for a bolt in high hump. Then you can find a couple in the junkyard and refine the position using card templates or similar.

    I need a donut

went to buy parts at a local auto store recently ( CV Boots ) and told they could not supply ( not stocked ) even when we provided make, model, year and OEM part no. Went back with an old aftermarket ( their "home " brand ) box showing part numbers and they found them on the shelf. Apparently...

How can i separate my rotor from hub? Looks like its all one piece need help!

If you need to get drums or discs re-machined properly, I find most of the Ag store / tractor supply shops in our local area are the best bet. Good service, right equipment and quality work. Maybe a different mentality compared to the auto parts stores ( long term maintenance v. chuck out and...

Best media for blasting the body

Hi - really don't want to be the "safety nanny" here but... DO NOT use regular sand for any abrasive blasting. When the sand hits a surface it fractures and the resulting finer silica powder if inhaled can cause respiratory diseases like silicosis. Better options would be garnet ( silica free )...

    1987 Suburban v1500 - what separates the v1500 and v2500?

Hi only real difference between the rated trucks that you cannot change with bolt-ons ( diff, axles etc. ) is the frame itself. Modulus refers to the flexibility or "bending" resistance of the frame when under load. This is a standard structural engineering term, and you can look it up easily...

Crewcab body swap on Regular Cab C&C 159.5" WB?

Hi - just read through the thread and wanted to weigh in here with my 10c .. we looked at putting a crewcab body on a long wheelbase single cab frame. We had all the parts and lifted the cab on. As @bucket says, if the frame kicks up behind the cab ( which our frame did ), there is no way a...

    New 85 Blazer

Welcome. I had an early bronco also - I think it was a '76 - anyway had dual tanks, no roof and lifted on 33's. Great truck, but too small for me and my better 1/2 to go into the mountains with a couple of Mtn bikes, camping gear etc. That is what first got me into chevys - I started looking at...

That is awesome, welcome to the Sub owning fraternity !!. I thought my 4x4 was rusty ( ill post a pic, may give you a run for your money ). Definately go back to the forest green. I just bought a John Deere tractor!

Tractors are awesome. We have a couple of "blue " models, they can: * tow your projects when there is no motor in it * push your projects into the barn ( even if there is no ramp up ) - build a thick wooden push block for this ! * if you have a loader attachment with forks then they will lift...

sbc 350 oil pressure from 60 to 5

honest question - why would you recommend mechanical rather than electrical? I would have thought having a wire running the length to under the dash would be easier than a pipe, provide a faster signal, and not have the potential issue of a messy leak in the cab. I am assuming the electrical...

    14 bolt question

My '73 2wd C20 burb came with a FF 14bolt from the factory. I would think it was part of the 3/4 tonne trailering option package available on the SQBodies. Didn't think it was that unusual ??

    Lost my rear end.

As the truck is your daily, I would suggest finding another used axle and swapping it in just to keep you going. Changing axles and wheel bearings is no big deal, however getting the crush / wear pattern / spacing correct on the pinion to ring gear is much more involved. There are plenty of...

    TH400 Information Thread

thanks guys - appreciated. I will look them up and see what their shipping is like. As said, will probably buy a core and do a full rebuild and then swap them out. I'll report back how it all goes. Oh, by the way a "rebuild " core here is around A$1,500.....

Also interested in anyone's list of "must have" upgrades for reliability - ( shift kit, clutches, HD C clips etc. ) - truck will be stock ( changing from dually axle to SRW ) , and just used for normal truck stuff - highway hauling and some towing. No racing or tractor pulls !! Oh, and its a...

Hi Nick and all, who are your recommended go to suppliers for T400 service parts ? I will also note that I am not in the continental US, so will need to mail internationally, however we get all our other parts that way so no big deal. Use Rock Auto for a lot of stuff, as well as the usual LMC...
